Hi!
My name is Araceli Gallego and I am a lover of everything digital. I believe that every step I took has taken me to who I am now, but it is kind of difficult to define oneself. As I am a writer, I will share with you my story and I leave to you to decide my keywords or my Hashtags.
Once upon a time, there was this little girl in love with traveling (me, me!). So I decided to study Tourism Management to travel the world. Once I had the Degree, I left my beautiful hometown in Spain and went to intern in Austria, to later move to London to work in a hotel. After that, came Canary Islands, Barcelona, Madrid, Jamaica, and Dubai. I guess I am a serial expat. In every destination, I stayed for a number of years and in different roles. In Jamaica, for example, I lived over 5 years, in Dubai over 7 and counting.
I always loved writing especially poems and short stories. Actually, just recently they published one book with one of my stories. But before that, I had blogs in Spanish and in English, where I would share my heart or my opinion on things. I love the freedom of writing and sharing all in the same location. Blogs then were not like now, and social media was just starting.
I have what some HR people call a zigzag career. I started in Hospitality, in Operations, taking care of reservations, sales, marketing, public relations.. every year I was going up the ladder in position and responsibilities. I loved learning and studying. So, I did an MBA while working. Eventually, I moved to an international PR agency specialized in Perception management. From there, the hotels called me again, they wanted me to start a project from zero, help architects and interior designers recreate the experience of what we wanted for our clients, organize all the procurement during the construction and after that, launch the hotel.
By now, I have done 2-3 openings of hotels from the Operations side and I have a good reputation. The challenge seems interesting and there I go… Off to Jamaica to meet ministers, request building permits and do whatever necessary to have our amazing project off the ground. Life was good! I was learning so much! It was very hectic but I am the kind of person that rather be busy than bored.
After the taste of working in a Project and because I wanted to help better my Project Managers, I decided to study another Masters. A Project Management Master from PMI. There you would learn to work and manage any kind of project. That opened my mind tremendously, and soon after I got an offer to move to Dubai to work in another hotel, a University and some other projects all across Africa.
Now, I would be in Construction and in Operations, jumping to a fro and organizing teams and tasks of the most diverse matter. Because I am a bit nerdy I kept on doing courses and studying: Digital Marketing came into the scene. And it was love at first sight! Ever since not a week goes by that I am not studying something new and all is digital or business related.
Thanks to one of my blogs I had an idea to assist emerging fashion designers, so I knew that my next step would be as an entrepreneur. I started Dubai Fashion News as an online magazine to talk about fashion, beauty, and lifestyle and now we also have a fashion podcast. You might wonder.. but, why Fashion? Well, it was one of my passions and I am also a Handbag designer by the London College of Fashion. I am very lucky to have many hobbies and to be able to live out of them it is just such a real blessing. I don’t feel I ever go to work! The next step is that Dubai Fashion News is launching an e-commerce to bring sales and promotion to a selected group of emerging designers in the region.
What we can offer you at SEO Ladies is a combined experience of 10+ years on marketing, PR and Digital Marketing, plus a lot of business insights (if you might require any of those too!). What I bring to the table is a lot of passion for copywriting and e-commerce, experience in Marketing, Digital and Traditional, a good eye for aesthetics and to what works and what doesn’t.
